Welcome to Corran Green Collective

I am creating this website as a means to display some of my creative endeavours and opportunities. As creative individuals, we often find ourselves pigeonholed into choosing a niche. However, in today's industry, versatility is key. So, why limit oneself to just one niche? I believe that a creative's job is that of a storyteller. An intrepid explorer of ideas.

As a child, I was very shy. However, whenever I heard the song "Riverdance," I would completely transform into a performer, throwing myself around the room in front of any guests who gathered in my grandmother's living room. To this day, when I hear this song, something takes over my body, and I immediately transform into that entranced child dancing.

The path into the world of creativity began through acting, where a unique perspective self-expression was uncovered, in a small church hall in Stourbridge, West Midlands, under the guidance of the talented Esther Stanford. It was during this time that I got reacquainted with Susan Hawkins from the Fizzog’s, a Black Country-based drama company. Having previously met Susan and her best friend Deb when they would visit my mom's shop for a spraytan… they invited me to join their drama company. These two small interactions seemed to have changed the trajectory of my life.

At 19, I moved to London to study Textiles Knitwear for Fashion. One university rejection came from “not looking like (my) work" became the catalyst for my commitment to live through my art. Each project was approached as if embodying a character, immersing myself into the environments I created, resulting in authentic, meaningful work. I brought with me the skills I had learned from acting and performing, incorporating them into my work. Using myself as my own muse, I would create characters that fit the briefs, fully immersing myself in their lives - attending events, reading appropriate books, listening to specific music, and even altering my style and appearance to morph into these new personas. This approach lent authenticity to my work, rooted in storytelling. I was narrating the story of my life during that time, capturing portraits and documenting my experiences.

While I acknowledge the necessary practical elements within fashion, I also believe in the importance of theatricality. Artists need time and space to create, drawing inspiration from various sources such as books, music, the environment, history, and human behavior. I want this website to serve as a platform where I can showcase creativity in its various forms. My aim is to lead a creative life and explore it in many ways - from publishing, to plays, curating exhibitions, conducting photoshoots, fashion collections and collaborations. My core values are integral to the running of this Collective: open-mindedness, authenticity, and devotion, acting as guiding principles. I aim to craft narratives that captivate and inspire, melding writing, visual design, and multimedia production. Ultimately, I aspire to inspire others to embrace their creativity in their daily lives as if it were the nectar of life itself.
